Sewing is stepping into the spotlight with squeals of crafty delight!
The Great British Sewing Bee is doing for home sewing and dressmaking what The Great British Bake off did for cakes! Now is the time to get out your fabric stash and stock up with glorious ribbons and trims and tune in on Tuesday nights, 8pm BBC2 for this 4 part series on prime time TV.
The contestants who are all amateurs are set lots of different challenges to make a range of garments including dresses, evening gowns, blouses and trousers. They also show their engenuity by jazzing up and personalising ready made garments. Ribbons really come into their own here!
This is inspiring newcomers and rekindling the enthusiasm of lapsed sewing and dressmaking fans across the UK. May Martin encourages everyone to sew and is quick to point out that there is more longevity in making things to wear or for your home than baking cakes. So…lets keep the Sewing Bee flying high and decorate with Berisfords ribbons to put the sunshine back into the season.
