How are personalised ribbons printed?

We offer sublimation transfer, rotary letterflex, screen and hot stamped foil processes to create the perfect personalised ribbon. Here is a quick breakdown of the processes to help you decide on the best option for you:

Sublimation transfer (full colour) – ideal for bright colours and vibrant designs, here we transfer the dye from paper to polyester ribbon using heat and pressure
Rotary letterflex (up to 6 cols.) – this is a popular option for those with more complex briefs. Our rotary letterflex process transfers ink from photo polymer plates via anilox rollers for ribbon which is intricate and stand-out
Screen (1-2 cols.) – One of our most versatile processes, great for creating a variety of coloured ribbons, here we simply apply the ink to the ribbon through mesh screens containing the image
Hot stamped foil (1-2 cols) – Ideal for luxurious looking foiled ribbon, this process uses a metal plate to heat transfer your foil design directly onto the ribbon.

How long does printed ribbon take to make?

The lead times on your printed ribbon will vary depending on the process you opt for and the quantity you require. Generally 2-4 weeks from artwork approval depending on production capacity at the time.

Which materials can I use for my personalised ribbon?

The most popular options for printing are Satin ribbon, grosgrain ribbon and taffeta, all of which are made from recycled yarns. If you’re looking for something different though you will be happy to know that you can print on most of the polyester ribbons in our collection. Get in touch witch our team for more information.

Are personalised ribbons washable?

Yes, most of the printed ribbons we manufacturer are machine washable, giving you the peace of mind that your personalised ribbon design is durable with a long-lasting quality. The only exception to this is metallic foil prints which are not washable.

What sizes can personalised ribbons come in?

We can print personalised ribbons from 10mm to 70mm, however, this depends on the type of method used. So contacting one of the team will give you a clearer idea on what width fits your design best.

What colours can I choose for my printed ribbon?

At Berisfords ribbons we boast a huge selection of colours across all our stocked collections, simply follow our easy order form to view the colours available, we also offer shade cards so you can see the colours in person ahead of making your selection. If you don’t see the colour your after don’t worry, we offer a bespoke dying service, matching to any pantone reference or colour swatch.

How much do custom personalised ribbons cost?

The prices of our custom personalised ribbons depend on a variety of factors. This includes it’s base, the process and volume that you require in order for it to be made to your requirements. However, a general ballpark figure we can give you is that prices start from 13p per metre.
